About

Gian Paolo Tomasi is an Italian artist based in Kenya, whose work spans five decades of images, experimentation and art.

His career began in 1974 in photography, a path that brought him to work alongside some of the great names of the medium, including Irving Penn, Richard Avedon, Annie Leibovitz and Sebastião Salgado.

Always drawn to the craft behind the image, he invented the Phototransfer printing process, and went on to build a visual language of his own: East African figures and landscapes set within the compositions and memory of European art.
